SAMS 2016 Executive Committee
Lorenzo Dio · President
Hi! I’m Lorenzo and I’m part of the SAMS executive committee for 2016. I’m in my final year of undergraduate studies majoring in Pharmacology and Biology, I find the intricacies of drugs and drug targets fascinating and hope to learn more about them in my postgraduate years. I’m a huge fan of basketball and enjoy playing it during my spare time. As a member of SAMS, it is my honor to welcome those looking for a great time and a strong sense of community as students in the School of Medical Sciences, University of Auckland’s largest school.
Naheed Saeid · Vice-President
Hi there! I’m Naheed and I’m a Physiology major in my third year at university. My passions include neuroscience and making terrible puns (terribly hilarious that is). I love helping people because I’ve experienced a lot of the struggles and obstacles university can throw at you and I want to make sure other people don’t have to go through the same problems! If you have any problems, feel free to message me or any of the other aweSAM (pun intended) members of SAMS.
Si Yin Lui · Executive Secretary
Hi there! I'm Si Yin and I'm majoring in Biomedical Science. I joined SAMS so I can help my fellow peers through this stressful (and expensive) journey we call university and add some fun into it. It also gives me a chance to do something at university that is not study or rewatching How I Met Your Mother for the umpteenth time! Feel free to hit me up if you need anything.
Timothy Helbano · Academic Director
Hi guys! Quick life story: I’m in my final year of a BSc Physiology degree (woop woop!) and I'm Wellington dude through and through which means that I am an avid cafe-hopper. A. 2016 is sure to be a year of excitement and adventure, a year in which I hope you will be an invested member in! I very much so look forward to working with and getting to know more of you throughout the years to come. SAMS is a great and innovative platform which we are so lucky to have, which has been developed to assist you in your academic and personal well-being; it’s also a great melting-pot of socialisation! I hope you all look forward, as much as I do, with great anticipation and excitement to what the next year has in store for all of us. Let’s make it one to remember.
Felicia Nasrun · Executive Treasurer
Hi everyone! I'm Felicia and I am incredibly honoured to be an Executive member for SAMS. I enjoy meeting new individuals and connecting my mentees to the amazing help that SAMS. has to offer. I want to help new members learn and achieve great things and ultimately for SAMS. to grow and reach out to those who need direction and advice. This gives me the opportunity to give back to the University in a meaningful way. I hope to be someone who anyone can turn to for advice and support. There are so many of us here who are more than happy to help, so do contact us and enjoy your year of study!
