SAMS Tracking History - 2014

This page was last updated on 17/12/2015
The first group of students affected by the dormancy of SAMS was the BSc cohort of 2013 - 2015 as there was no such organisation like SAMS existent in 2013. There was no such thing as a Medical Sciences club where students had a proper reason to meet each other apart from at lectures and labs (which aren't exactly the best socially interactive places anyways). For this generation of Medical Science students, such a luxury was unknown to us. When 2nd year Biomedical Science student (in 2014) Tom Li expressed interest for such a club in the first SMS Student Staff Consultative Committee Meeting in Semester 2 of 2014, SMS Tutors Angela Tsai and Anuj Bhargava were quick to point out the prior existence of such a club. Another meeting was organised where interested people in said club was gathered. This meeting took place on the 4th September 2014. From henceforth, SAMS was created with a committee of 17 like-minded individuals who steered SAMS into what it is now (as of 17/12/2015) - a thriving club that was able to carry on its mandate: "Serve All MEDSCI Students".
In attempt to make sure no time was wasted, the first event was organised with haste for 1st year medical science students with the 1st year students' holistic, mental and academic support in mind. As such, following events were guided by the initial principles set out by this first event.
